Green clay face mask

Clay is a method of healing, and the way it works is truly wonderful.

Famous doctors such as Dioscorides and Galen spoke about clay in their writings explaining that it is a remedy for many different ailments. It is used in different countries to this day externally and internally. White Clay for example is taken internally to treat gastro-intestinal disorders.

The most interesting aspect about clay is its power of absorption and adsorption. This means that it has the ability to draw out impurities. The molecules in clay carry a negative charge, whereas toxins, impurities and bacteria carry a positive charge. The toxins are attracted to the negatively charged molecules of clay and then the clay molecules hold the toxins until the body eliminates them.

Animals in the rainforest are instinctively drawn to clay and will purposely eat it after eating herbs that contain tannins which are a toxic substance to the animals.

Other benefits of clay…
-Strengthens the immune system in regards to becoming more resistant to infections.
-Speeds up the process of tissue repair.
-Creates an uplift in physical energy and emotions.
-A more vibrant appearance such as clearer skin and brighter eyes.
-Helps eliminate radiation poisoning.

Bentonite Clay is cleansing, toning, antiseptic, analgesic and purifying. It is a powerful detoxifier yet gentle on the skin. It contains many beneficial minerals such as magnesium, potassium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, cobalt, zinc and aluminium silica.

-If the powdered clay isn’t available at your local health food store you can buy it online from Echo Life or Nature’s Essentials.
-The clay used for pottery is different to the clay used for healing and cosmetic purposes. Buy your clay from a health food store rather than just any kind of clay you may find. These are safe options which are clear of any impurities.
-Because the clay is so gentle on the skin, it is perfect to use on older children with skin conditions or acne.
-Only use the clay as a face mask 1-2 times per week.
-Only ever mix the clay in glass, wood or ceramic products.
-You may have a bit of leftover clay mixture in the bowl, you can use this wherever else you would like on your body to soften the skin a bit.
